Visitation Liturgy Commission

Lent can really make you miserable. You give up things you enjoy and you do without excesses. You practice charity to people you'd rather ignore. Your routine is disrupted and within 48 hours you get grumpy.

But a good Lent can make you happy. You discover your cravings and do your best to put them aside, because your craving for God is deeper. God rewards you with a closer union to him. You end the season more comfortable at prayer, more giving to others and growing in your likeness to Christ.

When was the last time you counted your blessings?

God has given you, all that you have - your life, your love, your abilities and your resources. Take a minute to list all that you have been gifted with. Time, talents and treasures are the three elements that make up almsgiving. Each is as equally important when considering how you can share what's been gifted to you, with those less fortunate.

Do you have extra plastic or papers bags that you can donate to our Parish food drive? Do you have some time you can offer to help organize the food we receive or prepare the bags to be handed out? Do you have any "two for one" coupons that you can use to purchase non-perishable foods, paper products or hygiene items can be donated at no cost to you? Can you offer a single can of food each time you come to Mass and pray for those who are needy, when turning in your offering?

No matter the amount, the time or the effort extended, without your contribution to this or any of the many ministries within our Parish, we can not continue to do the work God has for us.

"Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, that you do unto me"….
